Governance group visits Wai Ora Nursery

The Ellesmere Sustainable Agriculture Governance group in May visited the Wai Ora Nursery in Harewood, Christchurch to learn more the Wai Ora Trust and about native plants.

The right choice of planting is crucial for the long-term success of our regeneration projects around Ellesmere.

We took up an offer from Josh Smith to come and see the nursery where a proportion of our plants are sourced from and meet staff and use their comfortable function centre/marae  meeting venue for the May meeting.

Josh explained how the commercial arm of the Wai Ora trust activities funds the community work the Trust carries out.

As part of the ESA objective to create new jobs, Wai Ora agreed to take on a full time nursery apprentice for three years in recognition of the partnership for Project Tinaku.
