John Williamson from Pest Free Banks Peninsula will be there to talk about their project and the cross over between their work and how ESAI members can help in reducing pest numbers in the Ellesmere area.
John will talk about each pest species, correct placement of traps, correct bait to use for each pest. He will also demonstrate how to set and unset the traps.
Farmers/landowners will be given the opportunity to register to borrow traps on the day of the workshop.
- Specific requirements of each farmer/landowner wanting to borrow traps will be assessed based on property location, what pests have been observed, landscape, and vegetation considerations ie waterways, streams, wetlands, trees etc. Based on this information suitable traps will be assigned.
- An agreement will be signed by the landowner/farmer and will detail what is expected of each party.
- Traps will be loaned for a period of 3 months initially, if catch rates are still high the landowner can apply to extend it for another 3 months to a maximum of 6 months.
