Connecting to Te Waihora’s lake margins, this project sees 0.3 hectares of wetlands fenced out and planted in native wetland species.
Wetlands improve the lake’s water quality by filtering runoff and up taking nutrients.
They also provide habitat for Te Waihora’s diverse and abundant birdlife.
In addition, this project provides riparian planting along 180 metres of drains and spring-fed waterways.
The project has seen over 1800 native plants put in the ground by Nova Sylva contractors.
