Got a boggy patch you don’t know what to do with?
Learn how to restore your land’s natural ‘kidney functions’ using small constructed and low-cost wetlands to improve water quality and make better use of wet areas.
Come along to hear Dr Rebecca Eivers of Wai Kōkopu Consulting, an expert in constructing such wetlands. She will share her practical knowledge on the amounts of contaminants simple wetlands can remove – benefiting both farming and nature.
The session, advertised in our last newsletter, will explore the different types of efficient and affordable wetland restorations and how to identify suitable sites.
Dr Eivers will also discuss the role of wetlands in reducing nitrates, phosphate and sediment which are issues in our area. Learn how to recognise and enhance sites on your farm that may already be reducing nutrients to some extent.
