Te Taumatu rūnanga are offering ESAI members a variety of cultural workshops over the next few months.
We will cover the workshop costs ($120) for the first 20 members, wives or partners who put their names down to attend the workshops.
More than 30 ESAI members have already attended and enjoyed one or two of these events earlier this year.
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and participants commented that the workshops had been “intimate, relaxed and inclusive, informative, inspiring, emotional and rewarding”.
The workshops will help farmers and landowners understand the significance of our local history, culture and the values of Te Taumutu rūnanga.
Both workshops are held at the Taumutu Marae and will involve an authentic marae experience. The courses run between 9am and 3pm and you will be treated to the Taumutu’s famous manaaki (hospitality).
For more information and booking contact Jo Fearn on jo.tinaku@esai.co.nz or 021 0304 783
Remember the first 20 applicants can attend free of charge!
Taumutu and Te Tiriti (Monday 15th November)
The Taumutu and Te Tiriti workshop builds on the knowledge gained in the previous workshop so we suggest our members sign up for this after they have completed the other course. The workshop covers the history of the Treaty of Waitangi and the impacts on the local people and you will leave with a much more comprehensive understanding of pre and post treaty context.
